I'm new to the group and the ATS-V as well. I've been a long time AMG owner.
How do you like the v compared to the benz AMG?
The AMG will always rank superbly in my book. The new V is right up there though. The magnetic ride control and handling is incredible. I'm looking forward to taking it to the track this summer and see what it can really do. It's nice not having high maintenance costs. Haha! AMG's are stupid expensive to maintain. My only complaint about the V is the poorly done infotainment system. It sucks, but is slowly growing on me. The perfect car, AMG chassis, engine and exhaust, BMW's M drivetrain and ATS-V's mag ride, suspension and steering. How does the M3 and M4 compare to the new ATS-V? BMW has owned this class of car since the 80's.
I have owned Bmw''s for many years. I owned 2015 M5. 2016M4. And 2013 M3 E92. The new Cadi I have to say I give it to the Americans for once. I agree with you. The infotainment I thought could be improved , but again I am getting used to it. The cars handling is right up there with my M4. The chassis is amazing on the V. The car is very well balanced . It's 200 lbs heavier than my M4 and you do not feel the extra weight whatsoever. The steering is as good as my M4. The steering is precise and tight .magnetic ride is phenomenal! Love it. I was very surprised how good the steering was coming from BMW , As you said they been strong since the 80s in this segment. I feel the exhaust can be a bit louder compared to Bmw. But again these are minor issues. I have a house in New Jersey and Florida. The cAr is sitting in Florida right now so I'm anxious to head down South and take it to a track . I also needed a change from BMW. I do get bored after a while and it was the same old same old with BMW. A great a car I have to say , no complaints. I have a six speed in the V which I love. I wanted a change from the double clutch. Overall very happy and got a great deal on 2016 left over. It just so happened , one dealer I found had a Vector Blue loaded out 6 speed. Carbon fiber package , recarro seats, etc. good luck with your V.

I live Colorado, so we always have plenty of sunshine. I also own a '14 E63 S AMG and I bought the new C63S Edition 1 coupé back in October. The V is my daily driver, I put some snow tires on it and it has been awesome in the snow surprisingly. I'm actually thinking about going to look at a CTS-V if I can convince the wife. Any thoughts on those?
Friend of mine has the CTS-V. He had the M5 as well. He loves the V. The power is amazing. Chassis. Great car . Has the Z06 vette motor. I would move forward with one if your considering one .
