Has anyone attempted to remove the hood vent insert? I want to paint match mine to the gloss black front splitter and rear facia. I see several screws, when removed the vent is still attached. There may be more screws under the hood insulator though. I'm worried of damaging the insulation pins that hold it to the hood. Any advice would be appreciated.

Buy a special pry tool which helps to pull-out the 10 plastic retainers holding the underhood insulation. Work slowly and carefully and you shouldn't do any damage. When re-installing the insulation, either push the retainers back-in with your thumbs or with light rubber mallet strikes.
